Ieri si è tenuto ai Jungle City Studios di New York City l’evento in cui The-Dream ha fatto ascoltare delle anteprime delle tracce del suo prossimo studio album intitolato “IV Play”. A questo listening party erano presenti una trentina di persone tra cui l’amico Timbaland.

Scopriamo con sorpresa che la seconda traccia ascoltata si intitola “Fi (Fire)” ed è proprio un duetto con Beyoncé!
Rolling Stone ha così recensito il brano:

When introducing this, The-Dream said, “Fire’s in parentheses, because that would be the non-ghetto title. Beyoncé’s on this.” She sounds soft, airy, as if from a hallucination: “I’ve never been high, but tonight I might try it. I’ve been such a good girl, but tonight I might try it.” She name-checks D’usse cognac, obviously, and says “I’m so trill” and casually mentions “boppers.” All right, we get it, you’re from Houston, Bey. Dream runs his vocals through every ProTools filter, as if in a carwash, first through A$AP and then Nineties effects – up, down, red fish, blue fish, one fish, two fish. And, yes, in the middle of everything, there’s marimba.

Quando è stato presentato questo, The-Dream ha detto: “Fire è tra parentesi perché questo sarebbe il titolo in versione non-ghetto. C’è Beyoncé su questa traccia.” Ella suona leggera, lieve, come se fosse un’allucinazione: “Non sono mai stata eccitata, ma questa notte devo provarlo. Sono stata una così brava ragazza, ma questa notte devo provarlo.” Nomina il cognac D’usse, ovviamente, e dice “Sono così esaltata” e menziona a caso “boppers”. Bene, abbiamo capito, sei di Houston, Bey. The-Dream fa passare la propria voce attraverso qualsiasi filtro di ProTools, come in un autolavaggio, prima attraverso A$AP e poi con effetti anni novanta – su, giù, pesce rosso, pesce blu, un pesce, due pesci. E, sì, nel mezzo di tutto c’è una marimba.

 

Fuse ha invece scritto:

A breathy Beyoncé guests on this sensual, icy ode to being high and having sex. At the same time? Most likely. (We really didn’t know B got down like that.) “I got the fuego/Inferno,” she taunts repeatedly. The-Dream stokes her fire.

 

Un’ansimante Beyoncé è ospite in questa sensuale, gelida ode all’essere ubriachi e fare sesso. Allo stesso tempo? Quasi. (Davvero non sapevamo B arrivasse a tanto.) “Ho il fuego/Inferno” ripete provocante. The-Dream infiamma il suo fuoco.
